damping-characteristic settings.
Adjust the damping characteristic
to suit spring preload.
To reduce the difference (in-
crease spring preload, in other
words), use the tool from the
on-board toolkit to turn adjust-
ing ring 2 in direction a.
To increase the difference (re-
duce spring preload, in other
words), use the tool from the
on-board toolkit to turn adjust-
ing ring 2 in direction b.
Tighten screw 1 to the spe-
cified tightening torque.

Setting
Damping must be adapted to suit
the surface on which the motor-
cycle is ridden and to suit spring
preload.
An uneven surface requires
softer damping than a smooth
surface.
An increase in spring preload
requires firmer damping, a re-
duction in spring preload re-
quires softer damping.
