BMW recommends the use of BMW fully
synthetic oil, viscosity range 5W-30 of the
long-life rating LL01 (API rating SL). If this is not
available, be sure to use another synthetic oil that
meets the same viscosity range and long-life
rating.
The oil level can be checked with a dipstick,
accessed from the cargo compartment floor. If
the oil level is at or beneath the lower mark on the
dipstick, have your authorized BMW center fill the
engine oil. There is no oil filler cap which can be
accessed by the driver.
The Range Extender engine’s oil must be
changed every 12 months.
Quality Certification I
For a detailed list of items inspected, refer to the
Quality Certification I form provided to the Owner
at time of delivery. A copy of the form is on file at
the selling authorized BMW center.
