RDS Care of technical equipment
Receiving RDS stations
RDS (Radio Data System) is a broad-
casting and reception system in the FM
range.
When you are tuned to a station which
broadcasts RDS information, the station
name appears in the display once the
RDS signals have been processed.
The information is broadcast in the form
of digital codes. At the moment, the fol-
lowing information is provided:
d Station identification PI
d Station service name PS
d Alternative frequencies AF
d Traffic Programme TP
(identification of traffic reports)
d Traffic announcement TA
d Enhanced Other Network EON
(enables you to receive traffic reports
even if not listening to a station which
broadcasts them, provided that this
station is part of a group including
one Traffic Programme station).
Monitor screen
Clean only with a cloth slightly mois-
tened with water.
Use no chemical or other domes-
tic cleaning agents, as these could
damage the screen.c
Cassette
Special cleaning cassettes are available
to remove dirt deposits from the replay
head and tape drive elements.
CD
If necessary, wipe the reflective (signal)
side of the CD with a suitable cleaning
cloth (available from stores), working in
straight lines from the inside outwards.
Do not use solvents or abrasive
cleaning agents, nor the cleaning
products or antistatic sprays intended
for vinyl records.c
